Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and vocalist since the mid 1990s. Some of her early Broadway productions included Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie In You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director, has spent the majority of her career working with prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford is next seen opposite Kumail Nannjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford is currently in production for Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust which stars Sarah Paulson and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. It will also be available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway on March 20, 2023 where he will star alongside Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This show will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which created Hamilton. Ashford appeared as Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, which is based on the scandal that included Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp during the national crisis. The two-season run she had on the CBS comedy B Positive was her first major part. She also appeared in the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured famous actors Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford has been awarded both the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
